Committee

The Pelee Coastal Resilience Committee was originally assembled in the fall of 2023 with funding from Environment and Climate Change Canada. The Committee applied to Natural Resources Canada’s Climate Resilience Coastal Communities Program for funding to develop a Coastal Resilience Action Plan for the two littoral cells that converge on the Pelee Peninsula in southwestern Ontario. The application was successful and a contribution agreement was signed in the summer 2024.

Committee members were selected from organizations that represent the four dimensions of our coastal areas in the Great Lakes, including social, economic, ecological, and physical systems. Refer to the adjacent diagram for examples of the linkages needed to achieve a resilience coast, such as adaptation concepts that respect both social and ecological dimensions to be sustainable, and solutions that are viable economically and for the physical coastal system.
